Did you know that a common currency like the euro today was used in Cyprus more than 22 centuries ago? Yes as you see in the map, there were at that time 13 town kingdoms. The kingdoms had strong relationship (cultural, political & financial) and they issued a common currency, named ‘ΚΟΙΝΟΝ ΚΥΠΡΙΩΝ’ which translated in English means common (currency) of Cypriots. Some of these coins were discovered showing the above description. A picture of this coin is nowadays used by a Cyprus bank as its emblem.
